The 2017er Ayler Kupp Fass 18 GG develops a quite aromatic and ripe nose of apricot, red apple, smoke, aniseed herbs, rosemary and pear, all wrapped into a whiff of volatile acidity. The wine is superbly playful on the palate and shows both superb intensity and great freshness. The finish is focused, fully dry in taste, smoky and even lightly saline. The after-taste is all about spices, lime and grapefruit peel. This is a splendid fruit-driven and aromatic yet focused expression of dry Riesling in the making. 2022-2032. 92.
