This is perhaps the most direct wine in the entire lineup. Sourced from vines planted in the “Filz” parcel (coming from the word “Fels,” which means “rocks”), this is an extremely stony part of the vineyard. The wine was direct-pressed and is beautiful. Classic Dostert.
Awash with green tones, from crushed mint to green apple skins, tons of citrus, this is a lean and taut Chardonnay. It is profoundly clean on the palate, both searing and seductive, compact and faceted like all of Dostert’s wines. The élevage is again brilliantly done, providing just a bit more expansive, softness to a wine that would otherwise be almost too ruthless. This is so primal and elegant and fine, so raw and cooling and of the earth.
Compared to previous years, the Chardonnay from 2023 has a minimal amount of new wood (around 10%). The barrel in question had a very distinctive, reductive note that still characterizes the wine somewhat in very harmonious way.

| Mosel Fine Wines | The 2023er Chardonnay (with L-Nr. 4-24) was made from grapes picked on vines planted in 2015 which were directly pressed, before the wine was fermented and aged in mostly used oak barrels (only 15% of new oak) along natural lines, i.e. without any intervention and was bottled unfiltered and with little SO2 added (30 mg/l). It offers a gorgeous nose of pear, citrusy fruits, a hint of hazelnut, a touch of funk, and lots of fine floral elements. The wine is incredibly fruity and zesty at first on the palate and then a touch of subtly spicy creaminess comes through and adds depth to the experience. The finish is all about fruit with a most elegant touch of hazelnut adding an incredible Burgundian feel to the whole experience. This is a remarkable effort. Lovers of Burgundian yet subtly chalky expression of Chardonnay will love this! | No. 76 July 2025 |
