| Mosel Fine Wines | The 2023er Müller-Thurgau Trocken (the reference to the name is, as usual for this Estate, only provided on the back label) with lot number L: 23MTH is a bone-dry wine made from fruit harvested on un-grafted vines in a steep part of the Winninger Domgarten. It was fermented and aged on its gross and fine lees in a mix of oak and stainless-steel tank without any intervention for 17 months (10 months in wood and 7 months in stainless-steel tank) months before being bottled unfiltered and with minimal SO2 added (total SO2 is 30 mg/l). The color is a very light, brilliant yellow, and the nose is absolutely charming, with fine natural notes of wheat and sweet spices accompanied by intense fruity notes of pear, plum, and vine peach, as well as hawthorn, acacia, box tree, and dill. The wine is superbly light and fresh, with a slightly fruitier, rounder mid-palate. The finish is spicy, light, and zesty. This Müller-Thurgau is really superb, in a fruity and delicate style. | No. 76 July 2025 |
