LeipoldObervolkacher Landsknecht Domina 2021 (750ml)

As stated above, Domina is a blend of Portugieser and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir); it is a hearty, high-cropping, dark-skinned grape with deep, punchy and complex berry notes. Only a few hundred hectares of Domina are planted, mostly in Franconia – so this is about as rare and wild as it gets. The red-wine Domina is punchy and herbal, dark, almost plummy fruits mix it up with botanicals, a wild array of herbs and a saline-mineral finish, energized by the vivid 2021 vintage. A Domina that is saturating, but also tensile and even a bit nervy.
