Weiser-KünstlerRiesling Ellergrub Spätlese 2022 (750ml)

The 2022er Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling Spätlese was made from fruit harvested at 90° Oechsle on largely un-grafted vines still trained on single pole and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (77 g/l). This yellow-white-colored wine offers a stunning but still rather reduced nose made of yeasty elements joined by pear, citrusy fruits, cream, smoke, and herbs. The wine starts off with superbly layered and creamy flavors of ripe and citrusy fruits, ginger, and smoky elements and are quickly joined by a firm but ripe kick of acidity on the palate. The finish is still backward but already beautifully playful and with a mouthwatering balance. This Spätlese is a huge success as it proves complex, deep, balanced, and yet also very subtle and playful.
