The higher-level Prädikats from Wei-Kü are delicious and rare. There is a tiny bit of the stellar Ellergrub Spätlese; you can taste the love that Wei-Kü has for this genre.
In 2024 this might be the absolute platonic ideal of Spätlese in the Mosel, too cold for botrytis building an incredibly light and elegant wine in this vintage. 65g of RS and 8g of acidity and only 300L made. Of course deeper exotic fruits here but finishing with focus and a lick of minerality that wipes the palate clean.

| Mosel Fine Wines | The 2025er Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling Spätlese was made from slightly botrytized fruit harvested on largely un-grafted vines still trained on single pole and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar. It delivers a gorgeous and superbly complex and attractive nose of whipped almond cream, vineyard peach, violet, lavender, honeyed yellow peach, William pear, and fine spices. The wine coats the palate with intense, clear, and ripe yellow fruits as well as creamy elements. This slightly broader side is, however, well-wrapped in candied citrusy and ripe acidity, which gives a light smooth and elegant finish. The aftertaste already reveals more freshness and acidity. This Auslese in all-but-name is hugely impressive. | No. 81 July 2026 |
