Year in and year out, this is simply one of the great Estate wines available, normally deliacately off-dry or even just barely dry-tasting. This quixotic profile (is it dry or just off-dry?) makes it a veritable Swiss army knife for pairings. The grapes are normally sourced primarily from Trabacher Taubenhaus, supplmemented by fruit from their other vineyards. They will never chaptalize, so this wine can range from around 9%-11% depending on vintage with usually between 10-20g of RS.
In 2024 this wine simply is delicious, and a perfect introduction to the vintage. There is a wonderful lightness and acidity that shows a classic side to the Mosel with just 9% alcohol with 19g of RS. As always this wine is more about structure, a braciling saline minerality, and garden fresh flowers and herbs.

| Mosel Fine Wines | The Riesling Weiser-Künstler, as it is referred to on the main label (the reference to the vintage is left for the back label), was made from Estate holdings mainly in the Trarbacher Taubenhaus and was fermented principally in stainless steel tank down to off-dry levels of residual sugar (18 g/l). It offers a very attractive and refined nose, still slightly marked by some residues from its spontaneous fermentation, of wild herbs, almond cream, vineyard peach, bergamot, smoke, pear, and herbal tea. The wine proves well-structured and juicy and delivers superb finesse and complexity. The finish is long and well delineated, with great persistence (at least for an Estate Riesling) and freshness, with plenty of spices and even some salty elements. This is an excellent, almost dry-tasting Riesling. | No. 81 July 2026 |
