Felsenfest – a wordplay meaning “unshakeable” or “rock solid” – is the so-called entry wine of the estate. The truth is this is an absurdly serious wine for the price. It is, legally speaking, a “Kabinett Trocken” sourced from the Kröver Steffensberg, a great site directly next to the Goldgrube. This wine is so damn good; it tastes like mineral water filtered through your flower garden. This is a Mosel wine through and through.

| Mosel Fine Wines | The Felsenfest 2024, as it is simply written on the consumer label, is a tank-fermented dry wine made from fruit harvested in the Kröver Steffensberg (2/3) and from young vines in the Wolfer Goldgrube (1/3). This offers a beautiful even if still backward wine with a superbly spicy nose made of peach, cassis, and smoke. It proves beautifully spicy and playful on the palate, where it develops a great sense of finesse and complexity. The wine is nicely juicy and engaging in the finish. | No. 75, July 2025 |
