The 2022er Trabener Gaispfad Riesling Auslese was harvested from fully botrytized fruit picked at 110° Oechsle on old un-grafted vines and was fermented down to noble-sweet levels of residual sugar. The wine offers a beautiful nose of pear puree, almond paste, a hint of saffron, earthy spices, and smoke. The wine proves subtly unctuous and oily on the palate at first. A nice kick of acidity then brings some freshness to the long finish. This is a superbly creamy and quite complex Auslese, which just needs bottle aging to shine.
