Vollenweider is quite simply, among the greatest practitioners of Kabinett on planet earth, part of a very small and elite group including Julian Haart, Egon Müller, Lauer, Weiser-Künstler and Willi Schaefer. Try and buy as much of this as you can.
From old vines in the ‘Jon’ sector of the Goldgrube, this is psychotically good, very cohesive and evaporative. Light but also so layered and complex. The acidity is prominent here and makes this drink nearly dry, it’s amazing what dry extract and acid can do to balance the nearly 50 grams of residual sugar.

This offers a superb nose made of lemon sorbet, pear, white flowers, whipped cream, and smoke. The wine proves superbly juicy and engaging feel on the light-footed but intense palate.
