Lukas HammelmannRiesling Schlossberg Terrassen Trocken 2020 (750ml)

This is Lukas’ first vintage with this site; an old vineyard planted in 1926 which had been completely overgrown. While the site used to be 100 hectares or thereabouts, it was a ton of work to clear the forest, rescuing only around 2 hectares of vineyards, half of which Lukas farms. The reward, however, is that these are rare ungrafted vines in the Pfalz. The wine has powerful aromatics, and is denser and darker than most Hammelmann’s. The wine was raised in 100% stainless steel as Lukas is still trying to understand the vineyard. This is a complex, deep and mysterious beginning.
