Goldgrube “Unterste Jonspfad,” meaning “under the path of Jon,” referring to the path (you can still see) that runs through the vineyard down to where the ferry used to be. This is the western-most site in Goldgrube, directly next to the Schimbock. The entire 1.5 hectare plot was recultivated and replanted by Daniel in his final years. Daniel used old selection massale cuttings from both the Goldgrube and the Schimbock. This is a relatively cool site, yet it has a finer soil and good water, so it makes what might be called the juiciest of the dry Rieslings.
The wines from Unterste Jonpfad are marked by their herbal and zesty aromatic profile, combined with a vibrant yet ripe acidity. They possess a striking energy and precision.

| Mosel Fine Wines | he 2024 Wolfer Goldgrube unterste jonpfad, as it is referred to on the front label, was made from a recultivated parcel of vines, in the western part of the Goldgrube next to the Schimbock, planted by Daniel in 2017 from massale selection (from the Estate's finest vineyards) and was fermented and aged for 21 months in an equal mix of Stückfass and stainless-steel tank down to bone-dry levels of residual sugar. It offers a quite stunning and superbly refined nose of many spices, aniseed, herbal tea, iodine, cassis, and lime tree. The wine has great presence and density on the palate and combines juiciness with depth and dry extract. The finish is energetic and vibrant, with myriads of spicy and salty elements.
