| Mosel Fine Wines | The 2023er Weissburgunder (the reference to the name is, as usual for this Estate, only provided on the back label) with lot number L: 23WB is a bone-dry wine made from fruit harvested in three parcels of the Winninger Domgarten. It was fermented and aged on its gross and fine lees in a mix of oak and stainless-steel tank without any intervention for 17 months before being bottled unfiltered and with minimal SO2 added (total SO2 is 20 mg/l). Light, silvery-yellow and slightly cloudy, the nose is very spicy and even powerful, with funky notes of curry, poached pear, red apple, yellow flowers, candied grapefruit, and cherry. The palate is directly marked by lively, even sharp acidity, giving the wine a racy edge. The finish is very long, saline, and herbal, with a very lively touch, and it tastes completely bone-dry. This Weissburgunder is very racy and superb in a rather strict, taut register. | No. 76 Sep 2025 |
