All the information you could possibly need, below:
Join us for a small, intimate dinner exploring some of our favorite producers from the “new Germany” including Moritz and Jasmin Kissinger, Philip Lardot, Jonas Dostert, and others. Heather and Stephen will bring some special bottles from their cellars to mix it up. All the fun will be paired to the vibrant dishes of Orlando’s favorite underground Thai pop-up, Tuun (at Sea Thai).
Seating is very limited, and we cannot accommodate dietary restrictions for this event.
Join us for what will be the U.S. premiere of Kissinger’s Grand Cru Rieslings from the historic “Roter Hang.” This is, in every sense, a rebirth, a renaissance for this storied place.
It’s hard to put these wines, this place, into the proper context, though perhaps this will do: Queen Elizabeth poured a wine from the Hipping vineyard in the “Roter Hang” at her coronation in 1953. This makes sense: At the time it was one of the most famous vineyards in the world.
Yet the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century saw the decline of the reputation of German wines and of this grand place. It was the Keller’s acquisition of the very parcel that had made “the Queen’s coronation wine,” and their bottling a special edition of the Hipping for her 60th jubilee, that put this famous place back on the map for contemporary collectors.
Kissinger’s acquisition of less than two hectares in this fabled place, including tiny parcels in Hipping, Pettenthal, and Orbel, has to be seen as the next exciting chapter for this place. Already the wines have made a splash in Germany: They are among the most talked about new editions to the landscape of Grand Cru dry German Riesling.
Join us as we discuss the deep history here, the journey of Moritz and Jasmin in acquiring these rare parcels, and the process of working, crafting and now releasing their first-ever collection from the “Roter Hang,” all alongside the Beard-nominated Filipino food of Restaurant Kaya.
This will be a private event (the restaurant is open only for us) and the first official showing of the wines in the U.S. All attendees will have the first-look opportunity to buy these rare bottles.
To culminate this weekend-long celebration of German wines, join growers Mortiz and Jasmin Kissinger and all of us for the ultimate Szechuan-Riesling festival!
$185 gets you Chengdu’s striking Szechuan food and a who’s who of great German wine, from growers like Keller, Egon Müller, Julian Haart, Stein, Weiser-Künstler, Vollenweider, Emrich-Schönleber, Lukas Hammelmann, Philip Lardot and more.
The Kissingers, Heather, and Stephen will go into their personal cellars to bring special bottles to share – you are invited to do the same!
There will be a voluminous amount of wine provided, but if you have a deep cellar of German wine, this is your chance to bring the good stuff! If you’re new to German wine and want to bring something to share you are welcome as well, and we at Golden Hour can help you select the perfect bottle.
Think of this as the spicier side of Rieslingfeier?
After all, wine brings people together. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
